I Have a Well Balanced Diet (If You Squint)
I have a well balanced kitchen.
I balance my organic raw broccoli salad, green smoothie and raw zucchini noodles with Mac and cheese, hot dogs, and pizza.
I rotate seedy energy balls, veggies and hummus and homemade guacamole with chocolate chip cookies and Tim’s ice caps. Sometimes it’s chia seed breakfast with fresh strawberries and others it’s pancakes slathered in a pound of butter and the richest Canadian maple syrup on the market.
By golly, sometimes I even chase down a breakfast of eggs, sausages and beans with a slice of Black Forest cake and ice cream if the moods fitting and the stars are aligned just right.
A good ol’ raw food detox does me heaps of good and I try to do them a couple times a year (I’ll chat about my favorite one sometime!!!) but it also feels heckin’ good to dive head first into an impeccably made flakey, sticky, finger lickin’ good fresh-baked pastry when the hankering hits me hard.
Somedays mama just needs chips and chocolate. And some days mama even gets what she wants.
The checks can’t outweigh the balances too far. That’s when natural disasters happen. Like earth quakes. You can’t eat quinoa all day every day. Where’s the feel good food spark in that?!
If you needed permission, consider it granted. And if you must judge, I’ll still love you.
