Reach for the Honeysuckle
I occasionally set up my work station in the cozy Forest Studio in our woods for clients who come to me, but I had clients lined up in the big city the next day, so Ev and I hiked up the hill to pack up my stuff. After the task was completed, we walked outside the cabin and Ev said; “Mom! Honeysuckles!!!”. One of our favorite edible vine flowers that make our heart sing when we see them, and even more so when we eat them, was wound around up a tree just outside the door. Finding them really is a highlight of our Spring Season.
Now, you need to understand that I don’t often get unplanned, spontaneous witty moments. But the resulting lesson to small bear was clear – where there’s a will, there’s a way (but honestly, being a short person my whole life - 5’ 2” according to my Driver’s License - finding resourceful ways to reach high things has kind of become a life-long honed skill).
Anyway, as you might have guessed, the challenge was, these Honeysuckles were really high up. Arching my neck I said; “Oooooh… Daughter, do you think we can reach ‘em?”. She said; “I don’t think we can.” I looked at her smirking with the soft rebel glint in my eye and said; “Well, I don’t think we can’t.”
