And One More Thing...
I’ve been thinkin’.
And I don’t know about you, maybe you haven’t been dwelling on Dolly like I have, but she had SO many goals and dreams that even having had 80 years on this planet it still wasn’t enough time for her to achieve all the things she wanted to in her life time.
That is a very sobering thought for me.
Being a highly ambitious dreamer myself.
And I think ONE of the things that made me SO sad was the realization that I’ve been distracting myself from what I want to do because I am too intimidated to start. Scared about if I can commit and follow through and then achieve in the end what I set out to do.
I have so many goals and dreams that it’s hard to find the start button let alone press it. It’s overwhelming but feels good at the same time to have them.
Kinda like being sad about missing someone but being so happy to have someone to miss.
So, needless to say, dwelling on the reality of time and comparing it to Dolly’s time in relation to the things she had set out for herself has left me feeling extra reflective these days.
And then a little side tangent to the main tangent…
I don’t remember if we even had a Dolly Parton album in our house when I was growing up. I know we had a Kenny Rogers cassette and that’s how I fell head over heels in love with Islands In The Stream, and as a result Dolly Parton, but I don’t actually remember having access to one of her albums as a kid. Which kind of makes sense seeing as she was 80% boobs and mom and dad worked very hard at raising us girls with the humility and modesty of the girls in “Little Women”.
But, like kids will find out about the birds and the bees, sure enough, Maria found Dolly Parton.
And for so many reasons, I’m glad I did 😊
