I did.

4.

Days.

The day it happened I was wearing my son Bannon’s shirt that had the words “Sad Songs” on it. Later that day I threw it at him and said “I wore this today then Dolly Parton died so I’m never wearing it again”. He looked at me liked I’d just dropped his birthday cake on the floor and said “mom! I love that shirt! don’t give it back to me and say that!”

But it was true.

And I felt like somehow I had killed Dolly Parton in wearing it.

Finally now, about 10 days after her death, I can listen to one of her songs and not sob. My playlists are peppered with them. Like little audio stealth ninjas waiting to jump out and test my no-sobbing skills.

Lord have mercy.

Reba better not EVER die.

You just kinda assumed she would be around forever. She was just one of those. She would just keep surgically aging backwards like she was and would just never not be here.

It made me wonder what else I need to start REALLY appreciating and seeing the beauty in while it’s still here. Like maybe crocs and man buns?!

I’ve been walking around for the last several days singing I Will Always Love You and Here You Come Again and 9-5 like they’re going out of style. Which, they never will now that she’s gone. They’ll be even more popular now. They will be for me. ♥️
